High School Musical anyone? You know you love it!
I am SO relieved! Studying for a big exam like the GRE takes a lot out of you.
I tried to maintain a balanced/healthy lifestyle for the first couple weeks of studying, but by the end it was almost impossible for me. I haven’t exercised in over week, I haven’t purchased groceries in …um.. a while, and I haven’t slept properly the last few nights.
However, in life, these things happen. For me, my goal was to do as well as I possibly could on my exam. And guess what, I DID! Of course, I also sacrificed my eating and exercise habits.
But it’s time for me to get back in the game!
Maybe you’ve been feeling like you’ve lost your way in terms of a healthy balance as well?
If so, I invite you to join me in Getting Back in the Game! Basically, all I’m trying to do is set certain goals for myself each week to make my way back to where I was before this exam. And you can too!
After avoiding the gym and not eating great for so long it’s easy to just stick with that schedule and put off making a change.
So here are some tips I have to get back on track:
1) Make a meal plan:
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy.
This is mine:![]()
I just quickly jotted down some ideas and created a grocery list from it.2) Schedule in your gym time
It’s been said before – if you schedule in your gym time, like you would an appointment, you will be much more likely to go!3) Get dressed and go!
Just putting on your gym clothes is the first step. Once you’re dressed you might as well do something active in those clothes!4) Treat yourself to some new gym clothes
Speaking of gym clothes – why not motivate yourself with some new workout outfits! It always gets me in the mood to work out if I have some new stuff to wear.
Checkout – Lululemon, Under Armour, C9 by Champion at Target5) Put some new music on your ipod!
A new playlist definitely gets me in the mood to go for a run or spend a while on the stepmill.5) Get enough sleep and drink enough water
You know the drill![]()
6) Don’t push yourself too hard!
If you’re just getting back into the swing of things, it’s important to take it easy. You don’t want to injure yourself. So just do what you can for the first little bit and then work your way up.
I already made my meal plan and bought all my groceries. So my plan is to take it easy by going to a yoga class or two and then upping it with some other classes, running and weights. As much as I want to do 30/60/90 tomorrow, I don’t want to push myself TOO hard!
I’m definitely looking forward to not sitting on my butt all day staring at equations and vocabulary!
