Snowy Adventures in NYC

Yesterday, the BF and I attempted to do some NYC exploring while the weather progressively got snowier and snowier!

We started our day off with brunch at Bubby’s Tribeca. We’d gone to Bubby’s in DUMBO last year and just loved it. And Tribeca did not disappoint! Bubby’s is a place for some solid comfort food. It’s always packed and so far, it’s always been delicious. It’s actually called “Bubby’s Pie Co” and although I have never had the pie, it’s supposed to be fantastic.

Bubby’s has this scone-bread that they usually bring out before the meal. And it is SO good. But they forgot to bring it out this time :(   I only remembered when it was too late. Next time I’ll be sure to ask for it!

I started off with a loose-leaf mint tea. Warm and fresh at the same time :)

I got my standard poached eggs and whole grain toast. But got some potatoes and bacon on the side for the BF.

BF ordered the sour cream pancakes, which I had a few bites of, and which I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! They’re so soft and fluffy and creamy.

I paid last time we went to Bubby’s, so I paid this time too :) BF is sooooo lucky!

Me paying last year!

Later we stopped into Vesuvio Bakery to pick up some cookies

They were REALLY rich and a little too buttery for my liking…

Then it started really snowing. We escaped the weather and stayed in the apartment for a few hours…until the BF convinced me to go to the gym with him.

I did a quick cardio session. 20 minute run on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the Arc Trainer. A 1 minute plank and some stretching.

Then later we trudged through the crazy snowstorm to meet up with some of BF’s friends at Lucky Strike for dinner.

No photos were taken at dinner. I felt a bit weird since it was the first time I was meeting his friends…

BF and I shared a thin crust pizza and some ravioli.

And when we left, it looked like this outside:

Where am I, Winnipeg!?

More snow for today! Plans include staying in and maybe a little trip to the gym and a little trip shopping. But mostly… staying in!

Have a great Sunday!

*Do you ever feel strange taking food pictures when out for meals with others?*

Look at that snow! Majorly jealous right now, I would kill for snow like that. Right now we have ZERO snow. Not even a snowflake, just rain, rain and more rain. :(

I’m still fairly new to the blogging and food pictures thing so I haven’t really been in that situation yet but I have a feeling that when with someone new, I would probably feel a bit awkward about whipping out the camera to snap food pictures. Haha.. but there’s still the possibility that I would just go ahead anyways. :P

Bubby’s is one of my and my bf’s favorite restaurants! The pie is amazing – you definitely have to get a piece the next time you go.

I will definitely have to go to Bubby’s. Yum!

I think I almost bought that hat yesterday… I ended up buying a man’s hat (@ Gap) cuz I didn’t like the way the women’s hats fit.

Janna, a lifetime in Winnipeg and four years in Montreal have more than prepared you for this weather!

I use to work at that Bubby’s, many many years ago! Aw the memories you just brought back. I so need to go there sometime for brunch (even though its a little expensive for what it is). The scones are amazing!

Wow its hard to imagine people walking through snow when it is 30 degrees (celcius) plus over here! Quite the opposite!
