Sugar, but not so Sweet

The other night the BF picked up Mexican for dinner.

But instead of getting something for myself I attempted to make my own at home!

Presenting my Mexican feast:

I used Cavena Nuda and these beans to make a very simple version of red beans and rice.

I simply mixed the rice and beans with herbs and salsa and topped with a bit of goat milk yogurt.

It was pretty good, but wasn’t super flavorful. Next time I would definitely make something like this without the meat.

I have been in a cooking at home mood and have lots of new recipe ideas up my sleeve! When I perfect this one, I will add it to my recipe page along with the other ones you will see appearing soon on the blog!

I also finally got around to trying some Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea

I hate to say it, but I actually wasn’t a huge fan. Something about it tasted artificial.  I know SO many of you adore it, and I really thought I would like it because I love sweet, rich teas like vanilla hazelnut. Hm, but I guess it just wasn’t my “cup of tea”… ha.. hahaha.

Are you a fan of Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride?

Last night the BF and I went to see a preview show of “A View From the Bridge” on Broadway starring Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson.

I was really excited to see ScarJo, and she was fabulous, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Liev’s performance. I thought he was excellent! I have to go find some other stuff he is in!

And the whole play was great. I most definitely enjoyed it! Not to mention we got lucky and ended up with 2nd row orchestra seats!!!

After the show we waited in the cold to get a glimpse of ScarJo.

Out came Liev.

Then ScarJo’s car pulled up, but after 20 minutes in the cold, there was no sight of her

So BF and I left. Was much too cold. How dare she leave her fans waiting like that!  haha.
But seriously, I feel bad for everyone who was waiting, I have no idea how long it took for her to emerge and it was FREE-ZING!

Today consisted of a morning trip to the gym and afterwards a big delicious chocolate smoothie in a bowl.

It had Almond milk, Mangolicious frozen fruit mix from TJ’s (mango, raspberry, blueberry) and half a scoop of Amazing Meal chocolate infusion

I had nothing to put on top, but I’m in search of some delicious raw granola. I’m thinking I might want to try this kind from One Lucky Duck or maybe even this yummy looking cereal. Any suggestions for me?

BF and I are now contemplating what to have for dinner. I vote for lots of veggies as I haven’t really had any today. :) Then we’re off to a birthday party!

Hope you’re keeping warm on this chilly weekend! Have a great night.

Last year I was not impressed with the tea. I pulled it out again this year and fell in love. Then I bought 2 more boxes!

Liev is so handsome. I would love to see that show. I love those seasonal Celestial seasons teas. The gingerbread one is the best.
