I made the official declaration yesterday to become a morning work-outer!
I was weighing the pros and cons and decided, with a little inspiration from Oh She Glows, that getting my work-out done in the AM is the way to go for now. I have a LOT to do and it will be nice to have the whole day to do it without worrying about getting my gym time in later in the day.
So this morning, I woke up early(ish
), got dressed and hit the gym with a very sleepy BF. I pushed yesterday’s scheduled workout to today and will push today’s to tomorrow instead of taking a rest day. I think I may take my rest day on Saturday (or perhaps just do some light yoga) as it’s an easy day anyway.
Smoothie Goodness:
After our workouts I’ve been making yummy smoothies for the BF and I.
In HIS I generally put: Frozen mangos, raspberries and blueberries, half a banana, 2 spoonfuls of yogurt, 1 cup 1% milk and 3/4 scoop of Met-Rx Protein Plus Vanilla protein powder.
In MINE I put: frozen papaya, mango and (sometimes) berries, half a banana, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 1/2 scoop of Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion.
I usually eat it as a Smoothie in a Bowl. Yum! Chocolatey goodness.
I just got that adorable little spoon from Crate and Barrel after seeing it on Healthy Tipping Point. I actually bought two of them but managed to break one within the first 5 seconds of using it… typical.
Haiti:
I’ve had CNN on for a good part of the morning and it’s pretty unbelievable what has happened in Haiti. So I feel wrong not mentioning it. It’s very very sad to watch people suffering. My thoughts are definitely with the people of Haiti and I hope yours are too.
It’s at times like these where I feel so helpless. The least I, and you, can do is keep them in our thoughts and prayers and think about making a donation. Haiti was country of poverty and need long before this devastating earthquake. So you can imagine how great their need for help is now. Every relief organization that is going there needs support.
You can go here to see what you can do to help.
One of my new years resolutions was to volunteer more, and this makes me realize how important it is to START doing this as soon as possible. We are so lucky… and the least we can do is help others who are less fortunate.
I’m off to shower and clean up the apartment, then I have lots of errands to run today. And I’m also getting fitted for new running shoes.
Hope you have a great Thursday.
Question of the Day:
Do you prefer to work out in the AM or PM? Or sometime in between
?

I did intervals today in increments of 400 meters (or 0.25 miles).

so glad to see you are calling attention to Haiti — it is so devestating and truly breaks my heart that I cannot give more than I have. At this point, I’m just resorting to praying for them.
in happier news, lovin that smoothie goodness!

Morning workouts are the best! Mainly because if I leave it till later, it doesn’t happen.
The incidence in Haiti is heartbreaking.
I’m thinking about donating if I can convince my mom to hand over the credit card. Or I may just do the cell thing…

Congrats on the morning workout! I definitely prefer exercise in the morning – keeps me happy all day – then frees up the evening for some quality family time!

I’m an AM worker-outer for sure!
I find if I wait ’til later in the day, it gets harder and harder to motivate myself! Also, like others, I find working out hard at night gets me all hyper and causes difficulty in sleeping~
