Lime Green Knives and Pizza Parties

Happy Groundhog day! Apparently Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so there will be six more weeks of winter…there always is :(

#1 on the agenda – I won this gorgeous yoga mat from Shannon at The Daily Balance! How exciting is that! I’ve been searching for a yoga mat for a while, so this is just perfect!

# 2 – I bought myself a lime green Santoku knife! To match my shoes, of course.  Ha!

It even comes with its own sheath!

Santoku knives are a Japanese version of a chef’s knife. They are very sharp and super versatile. They are awesome at slicing, dicing and chopping and are very easy to handle, especially by people with small hands (aka me!).

I got mine at Whole Foods and it was fairly inexpensive. If you’re looking for one they also sell them online, or anywhere you can get kitchen supplies. I think they’re fairly common now.

I tested the knife out last night during a pizza party with JH and Emily.  It worked WONDERFULLY! I was able to expertly slice the veggies thinly and evenly, which I haven’t be able to do with my regular knives. I’m very happy with it.

For our Pizza Party we made two pizzas using a store-bought whole wheat crust. We made one with veggies, and then topped one half with parmesan and a bit of goats cheese and the other half with Daiya. The other we made with veggies, sliced GARLIC (which MADE the pizza… do this on your next pizza!), and goats cheese and parm.

One half waiting to be topped with Daiya! (You’re supposed to put it on later in the cooking so it doesn’t burn)020210 005

Finished Pizza! Parm on the left and Daiya on the right. Such a difference!
You can’t even see the parm compared to the Daiya!

The pizza got stuck to the foil :(   Me attempting to separate it!

JH tests out the Daiya!

JH and Emily both enjoyed the Daiya and said they didn’t really notice a difference between it and real cheese. Success!

This Groundhog Day mornin’, I enjoyed a yummy smoothie and a Fitnessista style egg white puff.

Smothered in hot sauce, of course! T’was SPICE-arific!

I have to run a couple errands and then I’m off to Voice Class!
I guess that’s a fun fact about me I never mentioned – I sing! ♫

I needed one extra credit at school this semester and decided to throw in a voice class! I haven’t taken voice lessons in a couple years, so this should be fun!

Maybe along with our upcoming abs video, JH and I will perform a duet (she is a fabulous singer!)! Haha, I’m kidding about the duet… or am I?

Annnnd I’m off!

Have a Groundhoggy Day!

Do you like spicy food? Or do you prefer things on the mild side?

Me? Bring on the spice!
