Chocolate Bread Fail

Okay, so I kind of, sort of… had a baking FAIL.

I really wanted to make a Chocolate Babka for today’s post. A babka is kind of like a bread/cake aka a cake made with a yeast dough.

Seinfeld anyone?

I found a recipe and began my preparations. As it turned out, this recipe wasn’t for Chocolate Babka as much as it was for a Chocolate Egg Bread.

“Hey, Chocolate Bread sounds not bad” I thought to myself. So I went ahead with it, changed a few things around and baked away.

Looked great! And smelled amazing while baking

Unfortunately the taste was…not “to die for”.

I tried it plain (too eggy, hardly any chocolate taste) And then with PB…

Slightly better with the PB, but… there was just something NOT RIGHT about this bread.

Oh well. Ya win some, ya lose some. Clearly, I will not be sharing the recipe with you.

But I will point you in the direction of a few recipe for Chocolate Bread that I believe will turn out just deliciously.

I may give one of them a try! Or maybe just go take a stroll over to Balthazar to pick up a loaf of their amazing looking chocolate bread!

Happy Friday!!!!

What is your FAVORITE type of bread?

I LOVE bread of all kinds, but I would have to say my ultimate favorite is sourdough. Such a soft and tangy bread!

I guess it’s a bread-baking kinda day! I just made challah – one of my ultimate favorites. I absolutely love love love the smell of bread-baking. Yeast just smells so good to me for some reason! I’m standing by my oven inhaling right now. Like a drug.

BTW, CakeSpy has a really good-looking babka recipe I’m dying to try out one day soon.

Sorry dear, was looking forward to reading all about it. But you will try again. Mom had a pasta sauce yesterday that didn’t quite make it, lets just say we won’t be bottling that one. Hope all is well, we have a long weekend here.
