<p>As you know, I started my <a href="http://www.justflourishing.com/2009/12/30/flourishing-fitness-challenge/">Flourishing Fitness Challenge</a> because I entered into the lottery for the 2010 NYC Half Marathon in March. </p>
<p>Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to really start my training thing week due to an incredibly busy schedule. And, I just received notice that&#160; I was not selected in the random lottery drawing. </p>
<p>Although this is a downer, it may be a blessing in disguise. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.dorishinyblog.com/">Dori</a>, who also was not selected for the lottery, wrote about doing the <strong><a href="http://nyrr.org/races/2010/more/index.asp">More Magazine/Fitness Magazine Women’s Half Marathon</a></strong> in April. (I think she has chosen to run the NYC Half for charity rather than the More Magazine Half.) </p>
<p>But I think<strong> I</strong> am going to sign up for the More Magazine Half!</p>
<p>It will give me more time to train and it will be in slightly milder temperatures; it’s on April 25th (the “<a href="http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2010/01/08/my-friend-hijacks-the-blog/">perfect date</a>”). </p>
<p>So, thanks Dori for the idea! </p>
<p>Therefore, I am okay with my lack of FFC this week and I think I am going to change my official START date to this <strong>Monday January 4th</strong>. </p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/inter.htm">training plan</a> I am using is only12 week plan, so for January I have decided to ease into my training by substituting some runs with more “fun exercise” like classes and yoga. </p>
<p>And the BF is also wanting to up his exercise so I am excited for working out with him!</p>
<p>SO, if you are wanting to <strong>join me in this challenge</strong>, I am now starting on January 4th.     <br />At the end of my post I will be posting my workout for the day. And you are more than welcome to post yours in the comments or email it to me to keep yourself accountable!</p>
